On the morning you moved out of the flat

You cried because you hated leaving me

Without daily sister-to-sister chats

Over quartered toast with strong milky tea

Suddenly I wasn't your number one

So I chose someone new as my go-to

To talk things through when my head was all spun

When the first person I'd have called was you

But he hadn't halted tears, laughing hard

When we forgot grannies burial pants

Or posted much needed “proud of you” cards

Or been my anchor through each life decant

Being away from you makes me homesick

You are my ultimate, lifelong sidekick
